The Le Belvédère Wedding Experience From a Photographer’s Point of View

Every time I receive an inquiry for a wedding at Le Belvédère in Wakefield, Quebec, I get excited right away.

As a wedding photographer serving Ottawa, Gatineau, and the surrounding Quebec region, Le Belvédère is one of those venues where I already know the day is going to be beautiful. The views are incredible, the property offers so many possibilities for photos, and having everything in one location makes the entire wedding experience so much easier for couples and their guests.

There is no need to worry about driving between locations, finding parking, or losing time during the day. Getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, and reception can all happen in one breathtaking place overlooking the Gatineau Hills.

This summer Le Belvédère wedding was especially memorable because it reminded me why I love photographing weddings — the best moments are often the ones you cannot plan.

A Love Story That Started in High School

Lianna and Justin’s story started long before their wedding day. The two of them met in high school, and years later they celebrated their journey together surrounded by their closest family and friends at Le Belvédère.

There is something so special about photographing couples who have grown together over time. The little moments between them, the way they naturally interact, and the comfort they have with each other tell a story that goes far beyond the wedding day itself.

A Rainy Start With a Beautiful Ceremony

The weather had its own plans for this Le Belvédère wedding.

The ceremony had to be delayed by almost 30 minutes because of the rain, but instead of letting the weather take away from the day, everyone embraced the moment. Once the rain passed, Lianna and Justin had the beautiful outdoor ceremony they had been hoping for.

The clouds created soft, beautiful light, and the atmosphere felt calm and emotional. Sometimes a little unpredictability makes a wedding day even more memorable.

One of the things couples love about Le Belvédère is having a rain plan in place. Weather is something nobody can control, but knowing there is a beautiful backup option allows couples to stay relaxed and focus on what matters most — celebrating their marriage.

The Sunset Photos We Almost Missed

Right before we were planning to head outside for sunset photos, the rain started again.

It was not a heavy rain, but a steady drizzle that made us wonder if we would get the sunset portraits we had imagined. As a wedding photographer, these are the moments when you have to keep watching, keep checking, and trust that the weather can change quickly.

I stepped outside again to check the conditions. There was still a light mist in the air, but then I noticed something unexpected.

A small rainbow was appearing in the distance.

It was subtle — not a huge rainbow covering the entire sky — but it was there.

I immediately ran back inside to find Lianna and Justin and said:

“Let’s go!”

And we did.

We went outside with the rain still lightly falling, and what we found was incredible. The sky was filled with dramatic dark grey and blue clouds over the Gatineau Hills, with the soft rainbow quietly appearing through the mist.

It was one of those rare wedding day moments that cannot be recreated or planned. The combination of the dramatic sky, the landscape, and that little unexpected rainbow made their sunset portraits completely unique.

Le Belvédère Wedding Photos With a View

Le Belvédère is one of the most beautiful wedding venues near Ottawa and Gatineau for couples looking for a destination-style wedding experience without travelling far.

The panoramic views, natural surroundings, and elegant spaces make it an amazing location for wedding photography. Whether the day brings sunshine, clouds, or rain, the landscape always creates something beautiful.

For photographers, the changing light at Le Belvédère is a dream. The mountain views, open skies, and different areas around the property allow for a wedding gallery that feels varied, emotional, and authentic. No matter the season, the view is breathtaking!

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Le Belvédère

After photographing weddings at Le Belvédère, one thing always stands out: the venue allows couples to truly enjoy their day.

Everything is conveniently located, the scenery is unforgettable, and the atmosphere feels special from beginning to end. Most importantly, couples can focus on being present with their family and friends instead of worrying about logistics.

This summer Le Belvédère wedding was the perfect example. A delayed ceremony, a little rain, a misty evening, and a tiny rainbow all became part of a story that Lianna and Justin will remember forever.
